Hey everyone, I’m a beginner who began doing dumbbell workouts at home two weeks ago.
I’m looking for alternatives to pull-ups for back training that I can do at home. I have a pair of Ativafit adjustable dumbbells, and I know that dumbbell rows are effective, but I’m interested in trying different exercises to keep my workouts engaging.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I’m in a similar situation and have been doing various row variations: single-arm rows, rows with supine/neutral/prone grips, and renegade rows. I also find that Superman exercises are excellent for working the entire posterior chain.
The pull-up motion is essentially a row, but you’re pulling yourself up against gravity. It’s challenging to effectively target your lats with standard dumbbell exercises. It’s better to find a tree branch or install a bar in your garage for pull-ups.
Since your back consists of a large muscle group, continue doing various row exercises and try to find ways to specifically target your lats as well.
