Are Home Workouts Useful?

I think anything that gets your heart rate going is useful, except smoking, of course.

Absolutely! You can do a lot at home :muscle:. Keep it consistent and you will see great gains :facepunch:.

I use MadFit for at-home workouts and even downloaded her app. She’s a woman, so if you’re a male, I don’t know if the workouts would be tailored for you, but as a woman, her workouts are great, and I can see results just from doing it at home.

@Clayton
MadFit is one of my absolute favorites! I found her during lockdown when I started my at-home workout journey and never looked back. She’s great and has so many great workouts for all types of people!

You could get a really toned and healthy body without ever going to the gym. But if your goal is to get big muscles, you need all that gym equipment.

Nah, go outside and lift logs and big rocks.

@Dru
Me lift rock. Rock big. I like rock.

Nah, a squat rack, barbell, and bench will absolutely get you big.

I disagree. A set of rings is enough to get 90% of the way there.

Rings?

Yeah, gymnastics rings! They build crazy strength with a little know-how.

Thanks, I wasn’t sure what you meant; I can’t wait for the day I can use rings.

@Ellis
I’ve never heard of someone getting bodybuilder level huge with gymnastic rings. It definitely builds muscle, and I know a lot of gymnasts are shredded, but there does seem to be a limit to what they can do when it comes to hypertrophy.

@Raleigh
That’s why I said 90% of the way there. If you can do a planche, both front and back levers, iron cross and human flag easily and still want more muscle in your upper body, sure go for weights! And for legs, you definitely have an easier time with a barbell.

@Raleigh
I remember as a kid doing gymnastics; I noticed the consistent guys that did the rings practice were freaking ripped.

There’s an app called “Home Workouts” I use often. The icon is a guy doing a push-up against a red background. No equipment necessary, and I’ve gotten quite toned exclusively using that app.

Which program are you doing on there? How many days a week are you using it? Is there any equipment needed?

Do you have a Nintendo Switch? If so, I find Ring Fit Adventure to be a pretty fun home workout. If not, definitely check out YouTube. They will have tons of workout videos for all kinds of situations including body weight only, dumbbells, etc.

30 minutes a day is better than 0 minutes a day.

For me, the best investment for my home workouts has been a kettlebell! Awesome for a full-body workout and works well with 15/20 min workouts if you’re short on time.

Depends on what you are looking for. Cardio and ab workouts? Can be done at home.

Strength training with heavy weights? Some equipment is required at home, but at least you can do some bodyweight exercises for starters.
