As a newbie to weight training, I have been following a 3-day PPL routine for the past few weeks. However, I recently experienced popping in my shoulder joints while doing shoulder presses with an ativafit 11-pound dumbbell handle. Despite not thinking that the weights are too heavy for me, I am unsure why this happened and would appreciate any advice on how to prevent or alleviate it. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Thank you in advance for your help!
I would suggest asking a doctor in those online forums.
In the meantime, have you tried using power bands instead? They have a different resistance curve and are gentler on the joints, so the issue might be less noticeable or even resolved.
Thanks! I might give it a try, but based on my experience, I’m usually okay with 11-pound presses.
Be cautious. It sounds like it could be your rotator cuff. I had a similar issue years ago and ignored it while continuing to lift and swim. Six months later, I needed rotator cuff surgery due to a complete tear.
I don’t actually feel any pain in my shoulders, but I might consult a doctor about it.
In that case, I should take it more seriously.
