Exercise equipment suitable for small spaces

Hey everyone! I work from home and am looking for ways to incorporate some exercise into my day.

I’ve thought about getting a desk treadmill, but my office space is quite small, and I don’t have an available power outlet.

I recently came across a compact elliptical stepper, which seems like a good option since it’s small and doesn’t require electricity, but I’ve never used one before. Another idea is a rebound trampoline—though I don’t really have space for it, it does look like a lot of fun!

My space is really limited, making it difficult to do pilates, yoga, or dance videos. I do take walks in the afternoon, but I’d love to find something I can do in short bursts while working.

What about using resistance bands? They allow for a wide variety of exercises.

I actually have some resistance bands! Thanks for the suggestion. I’m not quite sure how to use them effectively, so I’ll do some research.

If you already go for walks, why do you feel the need to walk while working?

Walking is almost an automatic movement, but doing anything else could be distracting and make it hard to focus.

If your goal is weight loss, intermittent fasting or fasting would be much easier.

For cardio, try walking at a faster pace or incorporating short HIIT sessions.

Bands, kettlebells, adjustable dumbbells, a pull-up bar, and a jump rope all require very little space and can deliver excellent results.

I placed a spin bike behind my desk and used adjustable dumbbells, and I blurred my background using Zoom/Teams software. There are also apps available that can create artificial backgrounds if needed.

I had a coworker who used to take calls while walking on a treadmill. He had a small stand on wheels where he would place his laptop, allowing him to walk and talk or listen during less critical meetings.

There are plenty of bodyweight exercises you can do as well.

If your space is that small, a treadmill or similar equipment will make it feel even tighter. I’d recommend sticking with bodyweight exercises. You might also consider using a kettlebell, resistance bands, or a TRX system.
