Will foam exercise tiles prevent floor creaking while jogging?

Hi! I’m planning to get the Ring Fit game for Christmas, and I really want to use the jogging feature, even though there is a mode that doesn’t require it.

The only issue is that I’m on the second floor of an older house with somewhat creaky floors. Jogging in place causes the floors to creak, which is pretty annoying for my family downstairs.

I was wondering if using those puzzle-piece foam exercise mats might help reduce the noise. I already have a thick rug that I could place the mats on top of, which I think might help, but I’ve heard the mats are good at absorbing impact. If you have any experience with this, please let me know! Thanks!

Placing something across the direction of the floorboards would work better, or you could use a large sheet of plywood.

I know this is a bit late, but the puzzle-piece mats would only help a little since you need a way to disperse the weight to reduce the noise effectively.

Thanks for your input! I appreciate it. I actually got the mats a while ago and tested them out, but they didn’t make a significant difference. They even seemed to create more noise because my feet stick to them, making a suction-cup sound. While it’s not too bothersome for my family downstairs, it’s quite annoying for me. Since we live in a rental and can’t make changes to the flooring, do you have any other suggestions? Let me know if you do. Thanks!
