What is the best online fitness program you’ve ever tried?

Hi everyone!

I’ve been trying to get back to exercising in the last few months, lost 4kg (I’m 1.59 and 64kg right now) but since COVID is getting worse around here, I no longer feel safe going to the gym and decided to start something I could do at home.

Do you have any recommendations?
I’m not completely sedentary but I consider myself a beginner. I’m willing to buy equipment if necessary, and I believe that knowing that more people are doing the same thing would help me stay motivated during another time of isolation.

Thank you in advance, happy 2022 and wishing you all a great year :heart:

Caroline Girvan’s epic programs on YouTube! Don’t be discouraged by the weights she uses as you can use lighter ones (I do). I just posted progress pictures (from her programs, quitting alcohol, and eating generally well) you can check it out on my profile to see the results I’ve gotten. Aside from appearance-based progress I also have gained a lot of strength which I’m very happy about!

@Aldrin
Wow, congrats on your progress! I don’t consume alcohol but I do tend to eat takeout and desserts quite often, especially during the pandemic. This is very encouraging, thank you!

@Aldrin
Second Caroline Girvan! She’s the best and I love her workouts so much. I used to feel like I needed to go to a gym or class to motivate myself to workout (aside from running). I spent a lot of money on Orange Theory and barre. After discovering Caroline’s workouts, I quit all that and workout at home and I’m as motivated as ever.

Fitness Blender. Tons of free videos on YouTube or you can buy a program on their website (pretty cheap and they often have discounts). I love that they focus on both cardio and strength training. Minimalistic backgrounds, no loud music and instructions as you move along during the video.

I personally love Sydney Cummings and Caroline Girvan on YouTube.

Yes. I am not a beginner and I find some of the moves really challenging, but it’s definitely worth it!

@Remy
And you have seen results?

I definitely feel more flexible, starting to see more ab and quad definition. I get a good calorie burn at the end of it but still feel satisfied on the amount of calories I was eating before.

Do you think it would work to do 2 of her EPIC workouts a week? I’m doing a lot of running right now and I don’t want to overtrain, but the program looks great!

@Adler
Probably! When I trained for a half marathon, I ran 3 times a week and then strength trained 2-3 days a week with one complete rest day. So for example, my week would be: run Monday, Wednesday, Friday, then strength Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. I liked it. Strength and resistance is going to help your running performance in the long term :slight_smile:

Caroline Girvan and Heather Robertson both have excellent free programs on YouTube. Caroline tends to lift heavier and at a slower pace. Heather is a bit more cardio-focused. Both of their programs are very professionally made, and the best part is that neither of them talk during the exercises. None of that, ‘only 10 more! You can do it!’ stuff. Both have websites that provide additional info such as nutritional guides and printable calendars.

@justinagustin on Instagram has a program that is pretty inexpensive, little to no equipment required, and you can complete it at your own pace! I have yet to do it, but the videos he posts on Instagram are very promising. He gears towards beginners/intermediates and helping work and stretch the parts of your body that need it most! As soon as I find the discipline, I plan on using it to start.
