I’m in the market for a set of adjustable dumbbells and want to keep the cost reasonable, but I keep gravitating toward the Bowflex pair priced at over $400. I’m curious if anyone here owns them or has a recommendation for another brand. I primarily need weights ranging from 5/10 up to around 50 pounds, but I’m open to going up to 90 pounds if there’s a set out there that’s worth it.
Hey OP, I’ve been using my Bowflex dumbbells for about 5 years now, and they’re still in great condition. They are pricier than some other options, but in my opinion, they’re definitely worth the investment.
I went with PowerBlock and have been using them for a few months now. After doing some research, they seemed to be the most durable option. I was initially concerned about the shape, but I got used to it right away and really like them.
Edit: I got the Elite model for $300, which ranges from 10 to 50 pounds in 2.5-pound increments. You can also buy additional pieces to increase the weight up to 90 pounds.
I bought the Nuobells. Some people say they’re not very durable, but I’ve had mine for over a year without any issues—though I don’t drop my dumbbells. They work well for me.
I also liked the look of the Ironmasters, but I decided not to go with them. The PowerBlocks are sturdy, but I just don’t like their design.
In my opinion, PowerBlock is the best option by far.
The Rogue loadable dumbbells are hands down the best choice—no question about it. They are essentially competition-grade barbells in a dumbbell size, incredibly durable, with excellent knurling and balance. They’re the best money can buy.
