Squeaky apartment floor

I’m a 31-year-old woman living on the second floor of a very old apartment, and the floors creak with every step. I really want to work out at home, but even just walking to the bathroom is so loud that I’m worried about disturbing my neighbors with 20 minutes of exercise noise. I’m also quite self-conscious, and the gym in my apartment complex now has glass windows, so the leasing office staff and visitors can see everyone working out, which makes me uncomfortable :persevere:. Walking outside isn’t enough for me, and while I work at Amazon, my job isn’t as physically demanding as a typical warehouse role, but it’s still somewhat physical. I need something more intense for my days off. I’m particularly looking to target my belly and back, as I’m 5’3" and have an apple-shaped body.

I should also mention that I don’t know how to exercise properly and currently have no equipment. I’m open to buying some inexpensive gear if needed. Thanks in advance!

Consider yourself lucky! Japanese Daimyos paid a fortune for creaky floors to warn them of potential assassins.

I recommend checking out loop resistance bands, which are the most effective alternative to weights for home workouts. I personally use Weller Powerbands with a door anchor.

For targeting belly fat, focus on nutrition: prioritize high animal protein and keep carbs low.

If your building has a gym, take advantage of it. No one is bothered by you working out. It might feel awkward at first, but as you build the habit, you’ll find it easier to get into a focused mindset.

You’re building strength both mentally and physically.
