How have you found off-brand bowflex selec-tech weights?

Greetings, fitness companions

While I’m trying to stick to a budget, I’m wanting to upgrade from my Bowflex Select-Tech 552s to 1090s.

Off-brands (JC Man, Vicar, etc.) are obviously much less expensive, but I’m worried about their safety.

Are you experienced? Have you purchased and found them to be satisfactory? Or did you run across issues that made you wish you had saved money for the real article?

I adore the 52-pound off-brand JC guy ones that I own! For the past year of use, they have proven to be reliable and safe.

I wouldn’t force them to hit the floor or anything like that.Once, while performing big deadlifts, I unintentionally did that, and the plates came off.

In the two years that I’ve owned them, both of my sets of off-brand adjustables have held up well. I take care when I put them down and check them frequently, and thus far there are no issues. When in use, they do rattle a little, but they never fail.

To be honest, I wouldn’t buy any other brand but Ironmaster, but they’re really pricey. To do your best work, you have to baby the plates too much on selectorized dumbbells. Although they are a pain in the ass, Olympic dumbbell handles and 10-pound plates are a better choice. I saved up for a whole set of dumbbells, ranging in weight from 5 to 100 in 5-pound increments. For me, it was a significant yet worthwhile buy.
