I experience an irritating pain and fatigue in the back of my shoulders when doing push-ups with a weighted vest.
Could this be related to my rotator cuff?
Should I consider doing some rehabilitation exercises?
If so, do you have any recommendations?
I’m aiming to target my chest, but I have to stop early because my shoulders get tired. It’s particularly frustrating because it’s mainly my left shoulder, causing imbalances in my mind-muscle connection.
Consider checking for a winged scapula. However, if it’s your rotator cuff, here’s what you should know:
Take a break from wearing the vest. You’re still young, and your body is growing. Using weights now can impact your growth. Aim to start weight training in your early twenties.
I mention this because you might not fully grasp the consequences, much like I didn’t at your age. Now, I’m living with those consequences. Youth isn’t a sprint to the top; it’s a marathon that extends into old age. By my late twenties, shoulder injuries prevented me from doing pushups. By my mid-thirties, even turning a screwdriver could cause pain.
There are no rehab exercises for rotator cuffs, only surgery. And surgery never restores full function.
