Do you have any tips for dealing with square-shaped hips?

After years of living a sedentary lifestyle, I got a square hip. Sad story… Now that my kid is in primary school, I finally have some time to start exercising. I’ve tried the deadlift with dumbbells totaling 10lb, but I’m not sure if I’m doing it right.

Can anyone offer advice on whether the deadlift is suitable for beginners? Additionally, do you have any recommended exercises for someone with a square hip?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Apologies if this seems naive, but could you explain what a square hip is?

Similar to SpongeBob.

I recommend checking out r/resistanceband—there are a lot of exercises you can try.
